1. What is the innovation?

Pedestal 3D is a SAAS platform for utilising an organisations 3d models on the web for learning and teaching and sharing. 3d scanning and digitisation is in massive growth in universities and museums yet robust and custom built platforms for getting this data out of the hard drive and onto the web are lacking.

2. What benefits does the innovation bring?

By unlocking the access to their 3d data, an organisation can meet the needs of its clients, researchers and students by allowing democratised access to a simple interface with a wealth of specific custom designed tools fit for purpose to education and museums.

3. What commercial success and/or benefit to society has it achieved?

As we are early stage, we have deployed out platform in several paid pilots to large organisations and are currently looking for more pilots to validate its use. Once an organisation jumps on board, the benefits are immediate and results in happy researchers and students. The wider benefits to society by unlocking access and use of the 3D assets from museums and universities is wide-reaching. We see a future where 3d versions of objects replace traditional photographs and images in catalogues, research publications and modern learning environments.
